At the beginning of May, 2024 the NERIS beta specification was released in order to address continued learnings and community feedback on the NERIS draft specification. Certain tweaks and improvements and additions were made.
See the latest version of the NERIS specification.
The NERIS draft specification attempted to ease firefighter data entry by integrating with CAD (Computer Aided Dispatch) systems at local PSAPs (Public Safety Access Points, e.g. the 911 dispatch center.) The concept was to have a CAD and a without CAD module plus the incident module. This has been replaced by separating the “dispatch information” from the “incident module”.
The NERIS values were fleshed out further.
A number of addition modules have been added, e.g. the NERIS emerging hazard module and the NERIS risk reduction module and the NERIS exposure module.
