
No social media communications platform has perfect reach to the community, which is why we always start with our website and mailing list, and supplement with social media. That said, Nextdoor is likely up there with coverage.
As other social media platforms get increasingly cluttered and harder for fire departments to get noticed in, one strength of Nextdoor is it allows agency posts to be emailed to the whole coverage area. This really helps get the message out.
We still post on Facebook, and Twitter/X, for those that rely upon those platforms, but Nextdoor is a great addition to the portfolio.
